Nourishing & Healing with warmth
Moxibustion (moxa) is a therapeutic element of traditional Acupuncture, using common mugwort (artemisia vulgaris). Acupuncture points are warmed to build Qi and Blood, enhancing the effect of our work on all levels.
Moxa can be applied in a variety of ways; Direct moxa is when the dried herb is applied above an acupuncture point, lit to provide a more focused heat and stimulation of the point. Indirect moxa is applied over a more generalised area, not touching the skin. This is often a method used to turn a breeched baby, warm joints to reduce inflammation or over a needle to warm muscles.
